EPSRC Industrial CASE
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) has a collaborative scheme called Industrial Cooperative Awards in Science & Technology (CASE). EPSRC CASE provides funding for PhD studentships where businesses and related organisations take the lead in arranging projects with an academic partner of their choice.
CASE studentships are for 4 years and provide a fantastic opportunity for cost-effective collaboration between academic and industrial partners — the overall cost of a PhD studentship is relatively low (in comparison to other major and medium-term projects) and guarantees the engagement of senior academics, as well as researchers at the industrial partner.
To be an Industrial CASE sponsor, businesses and related organisations must have an established UK-based research capability and/or commercial production capability.
